The Future is Now

It's an uncomfortable subject for some, but any person with family, dependents and assets knows it's important to make a will. Understanding the impact of taxes after death can protect your family from added distress during an already difficult time.

PLANNING FOR A GOOD END RESULT

When you change your country of residence or gain immovable property (such as a house) in another country, things can become complicated. Each country has its own inheritance laws and some may be very different from what you expect... you want to be sure to have a will that takes local law into account.

AngloINFO's INFOrmation Page on Wills in Belgium explains the types of wills available and how to go about making one. But before you do that, you'll want to understand how inheritance works; you can find out about that with the page on Inheritance Laws & Taxes in Belgium.

Finally, professional advice - especially when the expert speaks your language - is always advisable. See the Financial & Legal category of The AngloFILE directory of local English-speaking businesses for contact information of local lawyers and registered financial consultants.
