Hi, I'm looking for a Sphynx cat as a surprise for my fiancé. He adores them and I've always said no to cats in the house as I'm not especially fond of them, but I can give him a break this once! As it's just a pet, and not for breeding, I'd love not to pay an arm and a leg for one. Does anyone know where I might find someone looking for an adoptive home for a lovely Sphynx? a

In the UK there is a spynx rescue charity you could contac if all else fails.

In any case please try to rescue a cat and not buy one as a lot of the time dogs and cats are bred in sub standard conditions in Eastern Europe and shipped over here by the truck load.

Thanks so much for your reply, I keep an eye on the rescue centres for lovely cats!
If I do decide to buy, it will be from a local breeder in Belgium whose house I would visit and would insist on seeing the cat's papers so I'll try that way to avoid any illegally important animals. I also abhor bad practice when it comes to animal welfare - we always had animals from rescue centres when I was growing up!
