Lost Parking Ticket

saffy writes in Cars, Bikes & Driving

I recieved a parking ticket before the weekend but subsequently lost it. How can I get a duplicate copy? I don't want them to increase the price if I don't pay...

Don't think you need worry Saffy..., they won't forget you ! J Unless Bruxelles is different from the remainder of Belgium, you'll receive a letter from them in a couple of days giving details of the offence and the payment details. Sometimes, if it's a first parking offence, you might just get a warning..., but if that was the case, it should have been indicated on the ticket.

In Belgium, we think ourselves lucky that we don't have cowboy clampers !

But won't they make me pay more if I don't pay the fine straight away Iain?

Saffy, don't forget that these tickets are not yet "official," in as much as they have not yet been formally submitted to the police computer.

Personally, I believe that the ticket you found behind the windscreen wiper is simply to tell you that the prosecution process has been started..., but there's so many of them, you'll need time before receiving the official accusation. In it, you will be asked if you believe you are guilty..., giving you the possibility of defending yourself.

From the parking fines I've received, the letter arrives about one month following the incident. Then..., if you don't pay within the month, you'll get a reminder. (with no increase charges..., I know ! J) If you don't pay within the two-month period, you'll probably receive a letter from a specialised solicitor..., there, he/she'll add costs and a small supplement. If you don't pay within the three-month period..., you'll get a kindly visit from a local, smiling Bobby !

I see. I always thought the second notice was in fact an increased fine. If it is only a reminder that is ok. Wow, they actually send a policeman round to your house if you don't pay?
